Gonna rebarrel my 7mm Rem. Mag. Rem. 700LH to this someday soon.
I am a bit disappointed in the fact that I cant even come close to theroretical(book) velocities in this rifle. Factory 150's to 2920fps!, I can't get 160's much past 2800fps, and that's with a 2 grain over charge of both IMR 7828, and H1000.
I don't know if it's just a slow barrel, because it's definatly not shot out(borescope insp.).
So on to a different breed of cat I say.
Dont want or like Weatherby calibers, I dont much care for 6.5's, I already have a 284Win, and a 300WSM. So it's either this or a 416Taylor, but that one should be CRF after all.
I feel it should do anything the 270WBY can with easier to come by brass.
And it should have the trajectoy of a tight piano wire too boot.
Thought I'd just share, chime in if you like, but don't expect a to change my mind, but your thoughts, remarks and conversations should be fun.

76.6 grains rl 22 100 gr pill- just under 4000fps
just thought you mite want to try a different powder

The first thing I discovered when I got my chronograph was that none of my loads were coming close to what the manual said they should be. I think a lot of Wildcatters found the same and that kind of took the wind out oft heir sails.

Thanks guys, but I think the barrel is gonna hit the dumpster.
I already have a 284 bore, and with it doing 3100fps with 140's, I have that niche filled.
I never really got all that cranked up about the 7mm Rem. Mag. anyways, I know I know, but that's just me. I am however a great tinkerer and love to be just a tad different, hence the caliber I'm thinking. And too boot I'll be the only one in my whole County with one.
I realize the 7mm Rem. Mag is a capable, and much deserving cartridge, but hey that's why we have choices.

Dick, you're a very experienced man when it comes to rifles and calibers so could you elaborate on why you don't like the Weatherby line?

What I dont like about the Weatherby's is that brass is a PITA to come by or make, and if I'm going custom why not something a little out there, and totally different than the rest of the crowd that hangs at the local range.
No real predjudice really, maybe a poor choice of words though.
