View Full Version : Casting accuracy?

Wondering if anyone else practices their casting accuracy on dry land? I pulled out one of the kids old hula hoops and tossed it on the grass. Took the treble off a spoon and practiced accuracy from different distances and angles.

My wife looked at me like I was crazy and told me I could only do it in the back yard. I'm thinking it should help with sight fishing and getting those lures right where you want them.

Anyone else doing this?

If you want a challenge, use a larger light spoon like a Williams Wabler. The wind plays some havoc with it. A Len Thompson or Krocodile is easier to be accurate with.

I did this when I was learning to fly fish. My buddy was a guide and told me in the winter he wouldn't take me till I could tie basic knots and knock over a beer bottle with my line. I was ready by spring lol.

I do this once in a while, only I try putting my lure in the fire pit. LOL.

I used to do this years ago. It really does help with casting accuracy.
