Hey guys thought i would share some of my pics from rat trapp'n this spring i've been at it for 8 days now and caught 72 my catch rate has gone from 4-6 a day to about 13 a day. Sure helps when u put more floats in. What do any other trappers do with there glands from the males. I've froze them but i "beleive" that your not allowed to sell them. So i was wondering what trappers do with them. Any help would be appreciated.. This is my first year for rats and i think i'm doing pretty good.

Very nice...where are you trapping at....I trap by Nordeg and I wish we had more Rats and Beaver...we have a couple little lakes but very few Rats and Beaver so we don't bother with them to much.

You've got the rats on the run now! I would be lucky to get half a dozen on my line so I leave them for the mink.

Good job!Was wondering if you use 110 connis and if you do what sets you use.Only have connis and was wondering what the best set would be to use them?

If you're looking to preserve the glands just put them in glycerin. Or are you looking for a lure formula using glands?

Oh man, does that ever bring back some good memories. Great job on the rats man, and I love the float concept. I used those alot in what now seems to be a different lifetime, but built them out two 3' lengths of log and 3 boards. Two got tacked on the ends wide enough for a 110, and the third was placed in the middle on the opposite side for the bait/lure. That way the 110's were half submerged. Pretty killer setup.

Wow what weather were having. Ponds froze over pretty good last night, 1/2 inch ice in some spots. I found three floats upside down today, pretty sure it was the hard wind yesturday, with that said i only caught 4 today, 2 were froze solid... The glands i'm still wondering if your allowed to trade or sell them??'

Still no info from anybody on the glands, guess i'll have to make my own lure with them....... I'm up to 92 rats now, the weather the last couple days hasn't helped..

Trade in glands is a common trapper activity, if it is illegal, it shouldn't be. If it is illegal, I highly doubt that anybody cares, people still sell their glands from time to time. Trade in glands is a popular activity south of the border and some bring good dollars if you are into cutting up smelly glands. I am not. I've cut them a time or two, then they lay around then they get thrown out.

It is a shame not to utilize every bit you can.

prime glands could get a couple gallons of coyote bait

it is eaiser to get permission than forgiveness, all that is needed is an export permit.

this may be a dumb question, and i'm not trying to be a smart ass,but are rats trapped just to get rid of them,or is there a use for them.

hit send then realized you are probably talking about muskrats. still curious as to what they are used for.

For thief fur is why they are trapped, mounties hats in winter are usually muskrat or beaver.
