Hey guys, a buddy of mine has got a snowy owl he would like to get mounted, and we were just wondering who would be a highly touted taxidermist for this kind of work. He would prefer Edmonton area, but would consider Calgary if need be.

Mountainview Taxidermy in Olds. Will not be the cheapest but the work will be nice. He has done a Great Grey, and a Great Horned for me, both have turned out very well. I am waiting for a saw whet that should be done fairly soon.

I used Richard Page, just east of Edmonton for my Great Horned owl. I would take all birds there from now on. Fantastic job.

I'm surprised Richard did your bird. I use him for all my stuff but did not think he did birds. I never see any at his shop. I guess you could always call and ask. He does great work and will be doing my life sized Grizzly as well as my sheep. I use to used Clarence Kriaski and he does awesome work but you have to call him every month to finish your work. My dad still has a couple deer in there for the last 5-6 years and they are not done. He hasn't bothered calling to bug him about it either. He does great work if you can get him to get it done on time.

I have had Marco do all my recient taxi work and would recomend hin to anyone. Has an awesome turn around time -my bro-in-law got his 06 mule back this week. He is also a wildlife artist and I really think it show in the details. Anyone wanting to get a look at his work will be able to visit his show booth at the Mother Of All Shoots in Red Deer the first weekend in March. Tell him Steve sent you.

Do any of you have photos? My taxidermist is way down south but i've never seen the work by all the guys your mentioning. I have seen some very poor shops around the province however, cheap prices though. I feel my birds look pretty darn good, cost a bit more than the average shop however.

This is my oldest owl mount.

I have one other getting done now, found a lot of birds this summer and one was good enough to pick up and get a permit for. I'd really like to see what kind of work other places are doing. Thanks.

Sorry JRS, I don't have any pics of birds cause I haven't found one since I started using him. He does excellent work on anything I've seen him do including birds. He's also just a real nice guy to deal with.

I have a taxidermed Great Horned owl and was recently offered $400. for it. Does this sound reasonable?

Ben at Art of Taxidermy in Lethbridge is in my opinion the best at birds of prey. Check out his photo gallery.

X2 on Ben at Art of Taxidermy. His raptors are amazing. I was watching him work on several owls and it was amazing to see how he ensured each feather was positioned correctly as the hides dried. Excellent attention to detail.

I recommend My friend Alex, 780 438 3029. He does Incredible work. He's done most of the birds at Wholesale sports in Edmonton. He's Done all mine and my brothers birds... I wouldn't go anywhere else. Give him a call and talk to him.
