I bought a Marlin guide gun in 45-70 last spring to have as a camp gun. After taking it to the range found this gun to be far more accurate than I anticipated with the iron sights. (3" groups at 100 yards) After this I was determined to shoot a whitetail with it. http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s89/roebag/Hunting/DSC00944.jpg
Bullet was a 350 grain Hornady @ 1900 ft/sec

Nice deer. My buddy bought a Marlin 45-70 in the SS Laminate not the guide rifle. Thing has less kick than his featherweight 270.

Varm,

Actually the deer was one of the best heart shots I've ever put on any animal.

Check this wolf out

Varm,

This was on the east side and that is my 340. We found this guy dead on a slash line just off of the line in the picture. Someone blammed him and never went looking. We picked him up and took him home. I would guess he was lying there for several days before we came along. He is a beauty!!

I saw some dandy wolves this year on the west side though. One of them was a huge snow white colored male. Nicest wolf I've ever seen. Next time I see you I'll tell the story
