I have used both large dual planer boards and the small single planer boards but really wanted something mid sized - like 12"-14" that could quickly and easily be taken down or folded and stored in the boat when not in use.
So .... I had the millwright fabricate some braces out of aluminium (light and corrosion resistant) and I cut some ski's out of cedar put a 45 degree angle on the tip and cut the runner at 30 degrees to have it plane up.
The fasteners are 1/4" stainless bolts and nuts ( I would have used a wing nut but couldn't find one in stainless) so they are quick and easy to assemble or take down.
Here's the results ...... what do you think?
