Camping on Tobin

Hi there guys, I'm planning a fishing trip to Tobin and I've never fished it before. I was just wondering if there are spots you could camp on shore as you head up the lake. I was planning to fish a stretch of lake then make camp and do that all the way up over 3-4 days. So I guess my main question is, is the lake surrounded by private or crown land?

If you can't camp at spots along the shore, can anyone recommend camp sites on the lake?

There will be both crown and private land and you won't know which is which without good maps. The shores are really not the best for camping there in my opinion. Nipawin Regional Park is good. Pruden's Point Campground is half way down the lake and there is a small provincial campground at the north end of the lake. I would use one as a base and then fish out of there and then maybe switch to the next area.

Do you know if those provincial camp sites are by reservation? Where would I be able to get a decent map of the lake, can't find much online of the area.

Not many options to camp on lake as said before lots of private land in mix.. lots of good campgrounds in area as mentioned before..

You don't need to haul your camping gear up and down the lake !! It's not that big, like Lac Laronge. You can stay at the park in Nippiwan and drift fish the river, which is what you want to do, or stay at a campground on Tobin, then just go back and forth to the hot spots. Hot spots are easy to find, just ask the people at the bait shops or follow the crowd. Tourists keep that place alive, they are more than willing to put you on fish.

Prudens Point Campground has a website as does Nipawin Regional Park. The regional park in Nipawin is great. Has full hook up sites and a boat launch onto the river as well as a restaurant and a trout pond right there if you have young ones along. Plus, you're about 5 minutes from Tim's if you need a double double!

There is a really nice campground just before you get to tobin lake resort. Maybe check that out. We will be out there in less then 2 weeks

That one is 100 percent seasonal sites now.

Stayed at Prudens point a few years back. Great spot, great people.
