Hornady and the firearms manufacturers did a great job of marketing, the cartridge. It has become one of those cartridges that has become the cartridge to own for many people, and many of those people don't even know why. Yes it performs well, but in a bolt action rifle, it really offers nothing that you can't get with the 6.5x47L or the 260rem.

I am in the same boat with my swede. A lot of blank looks on peoples faces. They sure made a good one 120 years ago.

Well, they are generally twisted correctly. There is room to seat long bullets in the magazine, and there is a good supply of factory ammunition. If that is the genius it takes to market a rifle then there are a lot of dumb firearms marketing departments out there.

The CM is great cartridge for sure but with a 140 gr bullet, or heavier, it still won't do anything the old Swede with a modern action won't do .. unless it sports a 28 " barrel.

The fact that it uses a short action and can be used in an autoloader are about the only real advantages I see in the Creedmore.
Too bad that the current SAAMI specs for the 100 year old 6.5x55 hamstrung a near perfect cartridge - and good on Hornady for identifying a marketing niche and making it work. They are going to sell a lot of ammo for this one. Ballistically speaking,the more things change, the more they stay the same. As a hunting cartridge, my money is on the Swede.

Im super happy with my 6.5 CM! Hit 1450yds with it last weekend. Brought my 300WM to the range to and left in the gun case. New favorite round and rifle.

It's marketing. I've had a 6.5x47L hanging around since 2008 and it's all the same. But started with great brass.

130gr VLDs at 2850fps plain kills things and using 40gr of powder to do it is better.

I have a 260 i load 108s and 140s 2.8 inches and thats it. What kind of target cartridge is that i dont know where the lands start and it wouldnt make any difference anyway plus the bullets are set well below the neck. It works well for me but isnt the creedmoor a better cartridge

I drank the 6.5-284 kool-aide instead and so far am very happy. Just something about the 6.5 cm didn't appeal to me. I built on a tikka t3 action so maybe that influenced my thoughts.

.260 and the 6.5x55 are ballistic twins..where they screwed up on the .260 is in the neck should have left it similiar to the .243 ...but I am sure they did what they did so the round would not fit in the wrong rifle and get them sued.

108 Lapua Secnars and 140 Berger in both rifles shoot very well on targets.

140 in a hunting bullet is more then enough for most NM game. except if the game can bite back EG: big bear.

Hit the nail on the head. While everyone else said "use what we give you or handload", Hornady delivered. Sure wish they could make ammo faster though, it's still somewhat hard to find.
