Hey guy planing on going doing some trout Fishing brining of July just curios what you guys would say some good ways of getting them are like what kind of hooks u us what kind of line strength u use and so forth ist what to hear ur opinion and hopefully learn something for trout fishing

when I see people at the local trout pond I think they generally use about 90lb test braid with a 4" bobber and golf ball sized chunk of power bait 14 inches under the surface on a rusty 2/0 hugely barbed j hook.

I recommend doing that since they always outfish me while I use my fly rod.

I like still fishing/drifting slip bobber rigs, or casting/trolling small Mepps spinners, tipped with a bit of power bait. If fishing in a bait ban, bare spinners or small soft lures.

Pickle rig size 10, medium weight on the bottom and sherbet pink and orange with sparkles powerbait. Rip the bait in half so one cube for 2 hooks and you'll run out of bait before you know it. Just caught 30ish trout this way. Gotta use different bait than the rest. Happy fishing let me know how it goes

Reminds me of a guy who brought a hali rod and reel to catch 7 inch perch from shore.

Everyone laughed. However I spliced some 6 lb test on...added a bobber and had him catching tons in minutes.

Still...very funny watching him looking like the hali were taking small flies under bobbers.

For a spinning rod take small pencil bobbers, mixed assortment of nymph flies, also some small mepps and panther martin spinners as well as uber small spoons five of diamonds.

Take some small split shot just in case.

Fly fishing...typical assortment of lake flies for north central Alberta. Leeches, chironimids, shrimp, damsels...

With Rainbows there are only 2 different lures I use to spin cast, Rapala CD7 and CD9's. They are great for river or lake because you can control the depth at witch you retrieve them, they act like a wounded fish and give a great presentation to a hungry fish.

I'm also pretty fond of Pink buzz bombs, I add a small glass bead between the bumper and the lure to give it a little extra action, these have a large success rate in the bow and have been known to land some monsters. They do sink fairly fast so if your using them in moving water make sure to start your retrieve right away
