Hi folks,
I'm a new poster on here but I've been lingering for a while. I did some fishing on the weekend in BC near Invermere, and caught a couple of different fish.

I'm stumped as to what this fish actually is and am hoping you can help me identify it. I thought initially it was a largemouth bass but after looking online I'm doubting that. I'm not often in BC so I'm not that familiar with the fish there.

I caught a few smaller ones before this that had a vibrant yellow/green colour on the underside of the head / gills.

If anyone knows what these are I'd love to be educated!
Thanks

Squawfish, or northern pikeminnow for the politically correct.

Yep Squawfish - I had to ask as well when I caught mine in Invermere - looks like same spot gravel bed right by the bridge.

Pikeminnow!

We always called them squaw fish also. Is Pikeminnow the same fish, or is this another one of those Pickeral/Walleye type things? lol
I always thought they were some kind of carp.

Northern Pikeminnow is same fish as squaw fish Ninja. Used to catch them all the time around Prince George

I believe pike minnow is just the "politically correct" name for them. Squaw fish and a pike minnow are the same fish, they're basically just an overgrown minnow.

Juvenile Brook trout

Probably not a juvenile. Brook trout are like perch.
