When I was young I took a small game taxidermy course and I haven't seen a course for anything for years. I am thinking about trying to do a deer mount. Anyone know where there may be one in EDmonton? Are there any good videos that would be good to try it out or would I be wasting my time. I have some small 155-160 deer I was thinking of trying it out on.

Check with AAA Taxidermy Supply in Calgary or Research Mannikins in the states for videos.

Select taxidermy here in Calgary runs a two day deer mounting course. It's enough to get you started and to give you an understanding of the concepts. After you get the basics from the course you can start getting all kinds of video's and literature which will help improve your skills. Hell nube, you might even feel confident enough to try some of your African game! Mark's number at Select is (403) 291-0162 or 1-877-611-0162.

I guess if I practiced long enough I could do some of my africa stuff but I don't know if I could get good enough or not. I guess if I end up doing a deer or 2 I might be able to see how hard it is and if I can make something look decent.
