Anyone care to share some tactics to get some Kokanee in the boat?

Only Kokanee I have ever caught was on my grandpa's ole superduper.

Kokanee:
25-50'
Willow leaf gang troll
Red wedding band
Tipped with maggot if legal (or not, it works anyways)
Rubber snubber inline(although not vital either-I've caught lots without one)

Use a downrigger if possible
And
Enjoy some of the best tasting fish you'll catch :)

My father used to troll a dick nite lure. Its a nickle plated brass lure, very thin and light. Sometimes 2-3 feet behind willow leaf troll rig.

Hot Pink Kokanee Killer Apex. My best results by far with this lure.

Sometimes behind a small flasher (or dodger) OR sometimes behind a gang troll.

See where the fish are marking and drop your ball down and troll away.

If you don't have a downrigger an inline mooching sinker weight in front of your flasher or gang troll will get it down there.

At 3 to 3.5 mph - 4 oz of weight and 150' line will get you down about 20' which usually will put you on some fish.

You can also run a small dipsy diver.

I usually use a big cooler with lots of ice to get my Kokanee in the boat....however monster dew worms work great for them fish.

I'm getting a minn Kota motor mounted on the cavitation place because even with a couple socks behind the boat it was too fast.

I use leadcore line with a 50 leader dodger
18 " behind dodger small spin n glow
And troll slow. Big thing is to find them first.
I'll be out on koocanusa most weekends also.

I fish the same setup as wildwoods, vary the wedding band colour, green a good choice too, small trout fly behind a gang troll.

The best setup I have ever used while trolling for trout is the trusty Lucky Strike Gang Troll, 4 Blades, Nickel Copper, 36-in finished with a Lucky Strike June Bug with a big fat worm. :)

Experience trumps the sonar. Find a bay on a big lake (one you know holds koks) and troll in and out at different depths till you hit your target. The sonar helps for sure but not necessary.

I just tried for the first time last year and I have no sonar. Just a spinning rod and dipsy with a wedding band. About as simple as it gets. Running my 2.5hp in an 8' dingy and I got into a few in only an hour of fishing. So much fun. I'm slowly working my way up the ladder by getting more kokanee gear but just shows research is more valuable than fancy equipment. A lot of fun. Looking forward to getting back out there

I've got a decent sonar and I've yet to find these big schools of fish.

It was by luck we had a few in the boat last year.

I just ordered a trolling plate to slow me down so I'm hoping for better success.

From the replies it looks like I'm using the right set up, I just need to slow down.

From shore? Everyone I've spoken to there says it's tough to catch them.
