What receiver are you putting it on. And what length barrel do you want to end up with. D.H.

thanks David , My son has a hankerin for one . When I was working in Regina for the RCMP , years ago, Darrell at TNT had a set of 6.5 Gibbs dies and to my surprise he still had them a few months ago and a friend I worked with in the Armoury picked them up for me . I have had a reamer for years ,so I have everything but a barrel .Which is kinda important.

I have a 6.5 Sherman which is similar to the Gibbs. You will enjoy it. Make sure you get a 8 twist. Mine is built on a Borden action with a 28" Hart with a McMillan A3. Very impressive considering it's a 270 parent case. I've shot 140 Bergers, 142 and 150 matrix. My gun didn't shoot the 160 Matrix as good. Powders I would recommend are R26 and N570. With N570 and a 140 Berger my Sherman can drive them to 3339 fps. This is max in my gun and primer pockets loosened after 5 firings. Next bullet to try is the 147 ELD-M.

Thanks to David as he has dug up a barrel for me .It will be an interesting project on 2 accounts , one to see if I can save the barrel as it has a chamber with chatter in it . Chamber chatter is a gunsmiths nightmare when chambering barrels

And 2 If I can save it what the 6.5 Gibbs will do .

Thanks again to David

Mailed it out today for you, have fun. I am not 100% sure that there was a chatter issue back when I set it aside but with any luck the Gibbs reamer will change the harmonics when your turning it and you will be able to make something out of it. D.H.

First you feel it and go no no can't be, then you pull the reamer and have a look. Then you start to sweat profusely, then you cut the chatter out and breathe a large sigh of relief hahaha
