Got tired of waiting for our mountain lakes to thaw so I spent a few days fishing the Kootenays around Nakusp. Spring is late there too - but the water's open and the fish are hungry.

Sorry about the photos - tough to work a kayak, hold a fish and take photos!

Beautiful pics, Thumper. Glad to see that little kayak is doing its job. Thanks for sharing and soon enough the ice will be off out here. Can't wait to get out on Minny again.

Thanks for sharing, if that's what your bad pics look like the good ones will be outstanding! That first 'bow looks like a bit of a tank, WTG!

Thanks guys, the fish were certainly healthy and I don't think I caught one under 18 inches.

2big4u - good luck with your virgin kayak fishing trip, 'once you go yak, you never go back"!

My yak's a Hobie Outback with Mirage Drive- here's their link:

WOW, I want one of those kayaks now...where did you get that and how much $$? I looked on the site and GLENMORE SAILBOATS in Calgary is a dealer...maybe check it out on the weekend.

Hey Steve,

Your pictures were my inspiration! Next I want to get a macro lense and start a collection of bug pictures like yours!

Good job...I used to live in the West Kootenays and spent alot of time fishing those lakes. I am very jealous ... The ice must be just off. Some friends of mine went ice fishing on box this winter and said the ice was deep.

P.S...box lake...olive nymphs.
