That brookie record from the nipigon is an ancient record with lots of mystique and doubt attached to it. I would think labrador or somewhere where they can access the sea would be where the world record would come from..... ? I know alot of easterners would be some ticked off if the record was beat out west lol.

So how big is this fish? I recall the Nipigon record is about 14 pounds or so.

There is a replica mount of it in the MNR office in Nipigon. It’s huge!!

That big fish is bugging me---hope you don't mind my asking but how many pounds does it weigh?
I've caught my share of Brookies in Ontario and New Brunswick but I've never caught one anywhere near this guy. Congrats

The fish is big for a brookie no question. But with the stretch arm photo looks far larger than it is. Compare the size of his fingers. Few pounds perhaps.

Here is my 8# line class World Record that I donated to the Royal Alberta Museum this spring

Tim's biggest Brook Trout is 4#10 caught in 1980 or so

the one in picture is 2#7 oz ... picture is in the eye of the beholder:sHa_shakeshout:

mine is 12#13 oz caught in Maligne Lake on June 28 1984

it was 29 1/2 with a 16 inch girth

thanks for all the comments
