Hi Guys,
I have a terrible infestation of dew worms in my lawn. It is on acreage so the lawn area is large. I am wondering if anyone has had any luck with getting rid of them and restoring the lawn afterward. They have made such a mess that it is difficult walking on the grass area.:angry3:

Just wondering if the two metal rods and a car battery would work for you?

I have seen videos on that and it appears to work really well to collect worms but I am not sure how effective it would be to eliminate them?

If you are not far from a major center, I would run a ad in Kijiji in the spring. I am sure someone would be willing to come and pick them for fish bait.

I was always told dew worms were good for your lawn, is this not true?

They are good for the lawn but often leave large holes and small rises. If I wanted my lawn to look like a golf green I would not want them.

Someone told me sand works. You add a layer of sand over time. I have personally never tried it.

You're sure it is dew worms and not voles?

It has to be crushed sand sand that has never been thru a crusher is smooth but crushed sand has sharp edges that irritate a worms skin they will move away from your yard

If it is Dew worms, it is natures way of aerating your lawn. But it is not nice smooth lawn. Rent an aerator and aerate the heck out of your lawn. It will take a couple of times to get rid of them as they wont just disappear overnight.

OK. I must chime in.
OP, dew worms are not natures aerators. They are an invasive species that will continue to ruin your lawn.
Google Dew/Earth worm studies being done at the University of Alberta.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I am pretty sure that they are dew worms from the sign left behind on the lawn? I will try aerating and then apply the sand. Hopefully, that will work.
