Folded elk tag this morning gorgeous young satellite 5x5, walked in about 2 miles through the hills spotted elk behind log pile set up when he walked out dropped him at 220 yards never took a step old 7mm delivered 160 tsx were it needed to be. Noticed while dressing he has been gut shot freshly I’d say within last 2 days. Perfect morning

Congrats! You're not concerned it could be septic? A couple years ago a friend of mine shot a deer not knowing it was wounded. We brought it home and the whole thing stunk.

Nope didn’t stink guts weren’t punctured to bad not much damage looks like smaller caliber. Will look more into when I get it out and skinned

I've been chasing them now for 21 days from 5 am till dark I haven't hunted elk this hard ever I now regret passing on a few small bulls early on now I'd be happy filling freezer lol

Just finished skimming and cleaning him up looks like they took a very quartering to shot just nicked the guts I don’t know what they were shooting but a ton of shock just jello. Found my tsx on opposite side in the hide wicked mushroom. Just got to clean and head to city tomorrow for butchering

Yep he should be fantastic not huge by any means smallest elk body wise I’ve ever shot but tons of fat

The entrance hole is very small and the shock around it says bullet to me but will never know couldn't find a bullet, meat is fine that's all that matters thanks everyone
