Been wondering if coverting our farm lighting to led is worth the effort.
Anyone else been through this?
I understand the technology somewhat, either replacing the fixture or a hybrid bulb?

Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Wait until the ballest fails or bulb burns out and buy a corn cob or there are some specialty led bulbs that work good also for higher lumens output. You can use the same fixture just remove the ballest and direct wire to 120 V you may have buy a mogel adapter if it has a large base.

If you have existing fixtures it is far cheaper to replace bulb with mogul base LED and cut out the ballast.

I haven't seen enough of them out there yet to determine if the longevity is going to be as advertised though. The ones I've seen have a 5 year warranty on the bulb, but also cost 5 times as much

We've had 6 in our shop for 3-4 years now and none have burnt out.
