View Full Version : Don't Work Too Hard

With Alberta in troubled times I imagine the employers in Downtown Cowtown are squeezing every drop of blood they can from their workers.

Work a Holic syndrome is bad and it's important for people to set the boundaries.

This Japanese lady is a sad reminder of the stupidity of some employers who don't have any class. Just after every bean that falls off the table.

Buddy was telling me about this phenomenon the other day...
Maybe she had a bad heart ?

I don't get it....

Us Canadians work lots too.... when we get home from work we work at hunting, fishing , sports, honey do lists... etc.

I used to work 16-20 hour days running service truck on the pipelines. I would average 120 hours every 7 days

Half that patch would be dead if this happened to everyone

Yep, there are plenty of people in Alberta who know what hard work is. However, and this is just from the outside looking in, working a mentally challenging white collar job in an office under fluorescent lighting for ~12 hours a day, six days a week (supposedly a typical work week for a Japanese salaryman), sounds like a special type of hell to me.

Frankly, I'd rather do 6 & 1s in patch working ~12 hours a day than in an office somewhere.

Wow! They even have a word for it - “karoshi” (death due to overwork).
Japan also has one of the highest suicide rates in the world.

No offence to anyone here, but I'm glad I live in Canada

We are supposed to feel bad for Japanese people for working hard. Meanwhile at home the liberals call Canadian small business owners, doctors and farmers “tax cheats” when we work that hard.

The world has gone mad.

I used to work all the time. Go to work, come home to eat and sleep for 5 hours and go back to work.
Not anymore. I work to live, not live to work.
My time is more valuable than any boss is willing to pay.
I make a comfortable living and get to enjoy time with my wife, friends and family.
That's more important than a new car every two years and every toy that's out there.
I'm living for now. Not waiting till I retire and my health is gone along with those I love.
