After putting on 10 miles Monday, and deciding to pass on the bull I was after, I had a few thoughts entering my mind...would I see another bull better than him? The answer was YES! This old warrior was harvested yesterday afternoon, and I couldn't be happier. Both front quarters were lost due to bad injuries from battle, and he only had a handful of teeth left. I doubt he would have survived the winter. He was so banged up in fact, that I was able to approach him within 100 yds before taking my shot. A huge thanks to my father and hunting buddies for all thier help yesterday and making my first elk a memorable one. Now to mend my wounds and get ready for Antelope next week!

This hunt is dedicated to the memory of Terry Granberg. He was my fathers longest standing hunting partner, my first boss, a true outdoorsman, and a great man. I am pretty sure he had a hand in this hunt yesterday. RIP T

Awesome bull! it seems the great hunting Gods did you both a favor! you will very likely never forget a bull like this one, and meat grinders do not discriminate.

When we started to skin him we noticed some wounds on both front legs. The infection ran into his lower front and part of his lower rib cage on one side. Tons of infection that we had to remove. Not a terrible loss of meat, but the majority of one shoulder and parts of the other. He could barely stay standing even before I pulled the trigger.

He's rather large. Nice specimen. Too bad about the injuries but as already mentioned that's win-win for you both

Great Bull, those prairie backdrops in Elk photos will never look right! Nothing like connecting on an old warrior.

Nice Bull. Looks more like a prairie bull with the lighter antlers. Bulls in300 are usually fairly dark antlers. Looks like 108 or 102, a prairie zone

Beauty bull Blake! Hope you're doing good, it's been a long time. Too bad about T as well. Good luck with your speed goat, you must have burned a pile of priority this year! Cheers.

Kelly my man! Hows things? As far as the priority, I was only a 10 for my speed goat! It's a shame though, they gave out 262 trophy tags for 102/118!! It was way too busy down there yesterday. Heading backdown later this week. Hopefully find a decent one. Take care pal and thanks for the kind words!

I'm doing good. Good luck down there, I've heard it's busy. I got a pic tonight of a friend with an absolute beauty. Shoot straight.
