Does anyone have a good solution to lengthen the Mag box for a Tikka T3 233 to allow more COAL? Thanks.

Simplest fix is to buy a 308 mag and sell the 223 one. The opening for the mags are all the same as is the actual action length. What conrrols the coal is the spacer in the mag. Try the 308 mag for feeding before u sell the 223. Also, the tikkas single feed fine off the top of the mag if u can live with a single shot.

I went with the Waters Rifleman mag. A high end product that works as advertised. And no synthetics to wear out. I was on my 3rd Tikka mag when I got the metal one.

Thanks everyone. I have looked and spoken with David about the waters mags and that might just be the best route.

Does anyone know if the Waters 6 Rd Mag fits flush with the bottom of the stock?

This does not work. I just tried my .308 Mag in my .223.

The opening is wider on the .308 and the cases almost pop out. The follower and cases tip at a 45 degree angle. When I tried to chamber a dummy round, the bolt wouldn’t catch the case and it would fail to feed, the case would end up facing 90 degrees to the chamber and caught between the action and bolt.

This is what I plan on doing. The links that you click on contain photos.

You are a genius. Or I'm an idiot. I've looked at that thread a few times in the last couple of days and never thought to click on the link.

By coincidence I just picked up a 3D plastic printout of an insert for my .223 mags today that will fill the gap to accommodate longer COAL. But I still have to modify an existing Tikka T3 original plastic case so as to insert the 3D spacer. That requires I disassemble an existing case, trim back the top gap, insert the 3D spacer and glue it in..... then test.

Since my colleague made me two instead of one. I have one available for you. If you are interested I can try to post a photo of the gray 3D printed spacer here.

Finally, should you choose to buy the 308 Tikka case and want to sell any of your used .223 Tikka plastic cases, please let me know.... I may be interested.

1) Just buy the Tikka T3 308 Mag box..... but confirm it fits the 223 rifle.

2) Modify an existing 223 plastic case as per instructions on various websites then glue in an appropriate spacer block such as the ones I have had made locally on a 3D printer.

please see photo...... Ignore the yellow Delrin bullet follower insert which serves a different purpose.

If you are willing to give one up I'm interested. What would the cost be? Thanks.

I have the older version of the Waters magazine. It works excellent, but it is the ten round version and it protrudes more than I like. If the shorter six round version was available then, I would have purchased it instead.

BTW - The yellow single shot follower or (magazine insert) allows for loading of much longer bullets (but one at a time).......

If you need to load more than one, then you need a different magazine or need to modify the one you have as previously mentioned. I had my 3D printed inserts made based on the data obtained from this website with the developer chose to file down a block of aluminum..... http://shootingshed.co.uk/wp/2012/06/tikka-t3-magazine-modification/
