Hi folks, looking to upgrade my knife to something of higher quality, the one I used everyday for cutting apples to carving wood polls is a CRKT, I believe it was a zero tolerance, but it has been stolen! Some people don't appreciate knifes as a tool and I'm just curious as to what you guys are using, so I can get some ideas! Thanks!

zero tolerance 0350 or a crkt m21-04g.

I have a CRKT M21-04G in my right pocket as I type this. Possibly my favorite knife I have ever owned.

Zero tolerance makes good knives, some arent cheap though. The zero tolerance 0450 would be a good edc size.

For EDC at work, I have a kershaw Junkyard Dog. It is rugged and gets used hard. When not at work, I carry the kershaw Blur. Nice, light, and quick. I have quite a few others I have tried, a ZT, Cold Steel, Sogs, spyderco...but always seem to like my Kershaws better in the long run. I sometimes switch up, but the Blur and JYD get the nod 99% of the time.

My everyday carry is a Chris Reeve Inkosi. Beautiful folder that is well made with great tolerances. Highly recommend it.

I edc a spyderco. A carbon fiber/ S110V steel native five with a deep carry clip in the city and a jade G10/ M4 steel paramilitary 2 in the sticks.

You'll get a lot of suggestions but when it comes time to lay down some cash think if you want a knife to cut or a sharpened pry bar. Most "pocket knives" suggested are so thick and ground such they're ok to stab a car with but not as good to open your packages and cut some rope. For my money a pocket knife needs to be able to slice and hold an edge. Steel choice, heat treat and grind geometry matter.

EDC is a CRKT M16. When I'm camping I usually switch that out for a Buck 110.
Attached to my pack is a K-Bar.

I switch between a few, an Emerson, a few kershaw designs, zancudo, and an gerber covert. I also have a few ckrt folders. My edc is usually two knives one for the fine cutting jobs and one beater that can be used for prying and such.

Leatherman Crater 33Tx, Its small enough to fit into the little right front pocket of you're jeans. Has flat head and phillips screwdriver flip outs and easy to sharpen. Can't leave home without it!

Boy that Chris Reeves knife is very nice, from the research I've done it's looking like it would run a guy close to a nickel $$$$! Benchmad has some super nice knives might have to have a closer look, I hear they have excellent QC, and customer service!!!

Spyderco endura with wave feature, hate the v grind, but when it can be drawn quicker than a switch blade sometimes you have to sacrifice, wish spyderco would make a flat grind with the wave feature in the endura or pm 2, have many knives, but some are too pretty to use.

Go to Warriors and Wonders on the net. Biggest selection in Canada , although shipping is a bit steep. Spent much there over the years and never had an issue with them.

Some good ones are the Cold Steel American Lawman in Carpenter steel , Ontario Rat 1 , Spyderco anything , good selection of ZT's , and Benchmades ,etc. I'm sure you'll find what you want there , but there's hours of looking !

I've been carrying a Puma IP Schwarzwild Guthook Knife for a few years now. Holds a good edge only problem I've had is the sheath has loosened up and the knife will fall out sometimes if I'm running. I need to get a leather one made, other than that it's a great knife.

Boker 'Magnum' Compact EMT Knife

Over the years, I got sick and tired of owning high-end, expensive EDC knives. They would get lost, damaged from rough use, stolen, etc. And sometimes I was afraid to use them on certain rough tasks, because of their high cost of replacement (and how 'purdy' they looked ;)).

After my last expensive EDC knife got stolen, I made up my mind to replace it with an inexpensive knife that I wouldn't have to worry about.
And ... I also decided I wanted more than just a blade, but I didn't want a heavy/bulky multi-tool.

After looking around, I ended up with the Boker compact EMT knife above ^, and I've happily owned and used it for over three years now.

What I like about it ...

- Inexpensive
- Reasonable quality, and fairly well made.
- Compact (Overall length: 6.5 in. Weight: 3 oz.)
- 2.75" Recurve Blade (440 SS)
- Checkered non-slip grip (feels good in the hand).
- Flip-out seatbelt cutter
- Carbide tip glass breaker on the back end.
- Flip-out multi-use opener/pry tool.
- Pocket clip sits the knife 'low' in the pocket.
- And did I mention: 'Inexpensive'? :)

To each, their own!

Leatherman Skeletool CX on my belt for a number of years now, don't even know it's there at times. I like the pliers, the screwdriver and the bottle opener. The knife suits all my needs and seems to stay sharp enough to cut every day stuff. When on horse I carry a straight blade, cross draw for when wrecks happen and it's needed quick.

For pocket knife: Kershaw Blur. My favourite folder.
There is a Leatherman Wave on my belt
For hunting: I have about 20 different ones, but I carry the Fallkniven F1 mostly.

Seems the Kershaw Blur has been mentioned a number of times here, I think we have a winner...!:sHa_shakeshout:

I've got two still, one half serrated, one unserrated. I've lost one at airport after going through security multiple times, emptying my pockets, taking off watch, belt, shoes...and finally realized my Blur was where it always is. :scared: Just such a part of my everyday I don't even think about it. Dang it. :mad3:

Had another go AWOL, think one of my kids 'repurposed' it. Anyway. Love the Blur.

I have 2 also, but I don't use the other one, just bought it for a spare in case something happens with my first :) I changed the pocket clip position, I like to carry it this way more, since I don't have to flip the knife in my hand to open the blade.
I agree, it's a great knife!

For a pocket knife a Buck 110 is great value for the price, and they can often be picked up on sale.
If you are ok to spend a little more money you might want to look at the folding knives made by Cutco. fabulous quality, the best guarantee and after sales service (free sharpening for instance) in the business.

I have a Buck Knife 4 inch folding blade that I have abused for near 20 years, love it, holds an edge and is very durable. My 8 year old grandson got one from a family friend as a gift, ( he had a few before) and we weighed them and they are the same weight, only difference is mine is brass on the ends and his is stainless I believe. A great knife as far as I am concerned.

I have many folding knives that I carry daily and I tend to gravitate to cheaper ones since I either loose them, break them or give them to the TSA when I travel on airlines.
The one I have in my pocket right now is a Leatherman C33 with a very handy (at times) beer bottle cap opener, but among my favorites are a CRKT, a Buck and a Kershaw. All of these cost me $25 USD or less and they all hold an edge long enough to get my job done and also won't break my heart if they get lost or broken!
I just can't justify a $200 knife the way I go through them!

I carry a Case Trapper. It's small enough to carry in a front pocket yet big enough for most tasks. I like having two blades; one for rough work and a second blade that used only in situations where a very sharp knife is required and there is a low probability of damaging the blade.

I have a selection of Buck Vantages in the Avid and Pro series in Sandvik 13CC26 and S30V steels. They hit a sweet spot on price/performance and blade utility for me, I'm a big fan. I'll even de-burr copper tube with them frequently and they still hold an awesome edge. I usually also have a Leatherman Charge Ti as well, at least when I'm in my work clothes.
