Goose Shell Repair

Picked up 60 snow goose shells for a song, about half have cracks, but for the price, worth it.

I was going to use Gorilla tape on the undersides to fix them up, just curious if anybody has a better tape to recommend?

5 Minute epoxy, and a paint touch up.

They're kind of low end, not really thick enough to glue. Tried it.

I repaired a cracked shell by drilling a hole at the end of the crack, then used epoxy to glue a strip of plastic juice container over the crack on the inside

what about soldering gun... I usually fix all mine with it..... I just melt the cracks on the shells... go from the underside if at all possible.... If its really bad .... I'll steal some plastic from an inconspicuous area and melt and fill as needed.....and truly if they can come in close enough to see it you should be able to shoot them..... :fighting0030:

I’ve been buying up used decoys all this year and am facing the same problem. I’m going to try to melt a hole on each side of the cracks, with a nail and torch, then zip tie them together?! Luckily zip ties come in both black and white!

I use fiberglass mesh drywall tape over the crack and then cover with a coat of automotive Goop. Makes a good strong a patch. Both available at Home Depot, Can Tire etc. This is done on the inside of the shell so there is no reflection from the Goop on the outside surface.
