Critical Alert - Wildfire CAP XML
From: Cypress County
Issued: Tue Oct 17 2:52 PM 2017

Area: Cypress County
Description:
There is a serious grass and wildfire affecting the areas between Township Road 180 and Township Road 190, on both the east and west sides of Highway #41 north, which is north of the hamlet of Hilda. The fire is rapidly spreading in a northeast direction as a result of the prevailing winds. Smoke is severely reducing the visibility and creating hazardous road conditions.

Cypress County Emergency Services are presently on scene fighting the fire. The RCMP have shut down both north and south bound traffic along Highway 41 north in the Hilda area due to visibility, and for public safety reasons. The length of any traffic delays are unknown at this time.
expand/contract Instructions:
Visibility will be affected due to the smoke. Please avoid the area. Residents and farms north and east of the fire and north of the hamlet of Hilda should prepare for possible evacuation if necessary. Follow the directions of local authorities. More information and updates will follow.

Not good at all, I was hoping that the cooler weather and moisture we had last week would put an end to the possibility of fires. Also not good as I go hunting close to there (or possibly where they are, don't know yet)

Radar shows what looks like a thunderstorm moving through the Hilda/Burstall area. Hope it drops a lot of moisture.

Emergency crews earning their $$ tonight here in Medicine Hat. Lots of power outages and a small grass fire about an hour ago in town. Now extinguished thankfully.

My brother lost cattle in the Bindloss fire. Doesn't look like anyone is accepting responsibility.

Hope there is no one hurt or worse this time around. Looks like at least 4 separate fires are burning across the southern part of the province.
