Suffield Elk

My partner and I were both drawn for the third bull season around the base. After many years of helping lots of other people get an elk. We are carrying the tags this year. There were some nice bulls shot in October. But the big one got away. So the story goes. We went looking for the big one Tuesday evening, only to find a 6x6 that my partner wanted to shoot. So a plan was made for opening morning. Morning came and off we were on a hike in the dark. Wind was blowing already. Legal shooting time came. My partner found him at sun rise. 100 yards away and he went down with 1 shot. 260" gross.So I'll still be looking for that big one. I called and asked about this today. It hasn't been released yet but will be available very soon I was told.

Well he's not the big one, but he's my biggest elk. 7x6. We found this guy yesterday and got winded by the elk. They didn't see us so we back out. They weren't going to leave where there were. So we went back in this morning. After an hour of hiking we found the elk bedded down out in the open. So the 2 hour crawl and belly crawl began. We got 200 yards away and the elk could hear something. So the cows stood up and started looking around for something. They couldn't see us. Then the bull stood up. One shot and he was down. Shot at 1:00 pm and we had him in the truck by 5:00pm. It’s very hard to get close in that terrain. When I shot my cow I had to make a 250yd shot as that’s all the terrain allowed.

I can’t find anything in the regs that shows the season starts sep 1 there?!? Can someone prove me wrong as I would like to draw there next season.
