Just wondering if anyone has experience with pheasant hunting in ND? I will be in the West/Northwest primarily, just looking for recommendations on areas to try. Access seems like it should be fairly easy. Thanks

I recently heard a rumor that ND Pheasant numbers have dropped dramatically. Sources were good so it may be worth checking out.

Thanks, ya I know people down there that have said so, but lower numbers there is still pretty good numbers. Also, I am going there either way so might as well hunt while I am there.

Low numbers there is still likely going to be the most pheasants your ever going to see here.

All I can add is I found land access down there to be a royal pain in the butt. Have your wallet out.

Usually good hunting in the north east. Actually hunt wild birds, which might scare some real hunters off!

I havn't done North Dakota but have done South Dakota and it is mind blowing. Probably saw 500-1000 birds a day. Had 18 of us go and it is so much fun pushing huge fields with birds flying all over.

I live just north of Crosby in Canada and they are all gone here too. The farmers werent seeing them either when combining their fields either as the last strip is where they all go.

They made it past the big snowstorm in March but they have drastically disappeared since.

Check out the link. Focus more on the WMU's that are red, or were years ago. Look for creek bottoms and sloughs with good cover near crop land. I believe that farmers pulling land out of CRP is the reason why pheasant numbers are low. I had better luck going further south near Mott and Regent when I lived down there but had good pheasant hunting all over ND except when we lived in Grande Forks. Too wet and cold there with much of the land being farmed so little cover.

Love the state. Better for waterfowl than pheasants but good pheasant hunting too.

Plots.
I don't think there is a single region in ND now that has a good number of birds.
Drought did them in.
