Ok so looking at putting one of these comm's devices in my battle barge, have a few chats with people on the lakes to see what's up etc.
I am looking at a radio that won't break the bank, reliable, not overly too fancy, turn on, set to channel and press button.
Anyone got recommendations on thier personal setups? Things required etc before I order one in.
Thanks.

The Chinese have the answer lol. I have a few of these. It can be programmed to just about any frequencies you could think of, including marine. As a bonus you can listen to local fm music while it scans your other channels. https://www.amazon.com/BaoFeng-UV-5R-Dual-Radio-Black/dp/B007H4VT7A

You know that you must have a marine radio license to use a VHF radio unless you are making a distress call. You can take the course and exam from the power squadron.
