I am a huge fan of smoked ribs, as well as brisket.
I would gladly pay for a few if you have some spares.
I know most of the meat gets cut up for burger, but we sure would like to get our hands on some ribs.

Thanks in advance!

I think they call them 'braising' or 'short' ribs. They are 1/2" think, close to 2" wide, 10-12 long

I see them at IGA every now and again....but I'm sure if you asked at any butcher shop, they'd hook you up.

I am hoping someone butchers. If they are going to cut out the meat to grind as burger meat, I would gladly buy it on the bone.
I have talked to a couple farmers here, they already either threw them out, fed the dogs, ground it or kept them.

I was thinking of something else but, you did get the wheels turning and dang them ribs in the pic look good, a buddy of mine did a rub on some beef ribs a couple of years ago, man, never had pork ribs that even came close, and haven't had any that good since, good luck on your quest!

Short ribs are the most tender part of a cow. Last batch I made I had to use a slotted spoon to get them out of the crock pot as a fork just didn't work. Good luck in finding them.

I noticed in Wholesale Club in Edmonton you can buy a whole side of beef ribs for 70 to 80 bucks. Labels say cut from triple A beef. I believe Calgary has a Wholesale Club too. You don't need a membership.

I appreciate that, thank you so much! Have you smoked them before?

Haven't thrown them in the smoker yet, first batch was made yesterday in the oven, and they turned out nice, but I immediately told myself that these would taste great smoked!

Do you prefer salmon, halibut, tuna or crab?

I'm a pretty big salmon fan, simply because I have more experience with preparing it!!

I was in Ben’s Butcher Shop located at 158 street and Stony Plain Road on Friday and they had lots of beef short ribs available.

Once we start doing inspected beef again I can set some aside but that may not be for a bit as we are starting the new year doing custom. Lots of folks are saving the brisket which is good to see, man is that ever some good smokin meat
