Hey guys. Just finished cleaning out garage after hunting season. Lots of feathers, and lots of blood stains. The feathers were easy. The blood stains the wife wants gone. Is there anything other than bleach that you have had good luck with? Thanks in advance.

Wet down the area, sprinkle TSP, scrub the hell out of it then leave for 30 minutes and no less, scrub again then rinse it off with really hot water.

Doesn’t Coke take blood out?

Whe it's fresh throw some fresh snow on it and brush it around a bit then shovel it out.

Tide powdered laundry detergent: make into a slurry scrub into the stains and rinse

Canadian tire sells a concrete cleaner for removing oil stains that works as well

Simple green works very well on cement floors.

If it's fresh, sawdust works great as well. If not, I second TSP.

Why do you need any more than water? I frequently have lots of blood on my garage floor and after spraying it lightly with water and letting it soak for a few minutes, I wipe it up and its entirely gone. Dish soap or Spic and Span would be effective if you really needed it.

Powdered rig wash and the pressure washer is what I use.

Unfortunately it only gets done in the spring where the odds of turning my driveway into a bobsleigh track are greatly reduced.

Hydrogen peroxide might do the trick. At least that’s what cousin tells me works best for him on the concrete floor in the garage. I do all (most) of my work in the shed and I have no idea what I am going to do if I decide to sell the house one day  maybe buy a new shed, lol. My wife does not want to go in there.

If it's thick and dry take the top of it off with a paint/razor blade scraper. Then get it wet and let it soak before a quick scrub and squeegee/ mop to get the rest off. Scrubbing is just a waste of energy unless your in a rush, it'll come off easy once it's rehydrated.

Scrape off the thick stuff. Sunlight dish soap let soak, scrub and rinse.

Grind your floor and put a reliable 2 part coating down. That way you won't have to clean up the blood.

Throw snow on it, let it melt, remove, repeat, it will lift it right off, might take several attempts

What kind of blood? :thinking-006:

Hydrogen peroxide.

Don't parents use this on kids anymore?
Seems like more and more people don't know about this stuff, have never watched the blood from their cut bubble away into nothing....

Phosphoric Acid works quite well. You can buy it in home Depot or in home brewing stores as "Star San" (just use Star San straight if cleaning a floor).

If all else fails and the wife really needs it clean Muriatic Acid will definitely clean it (will also strip and sealer off the floor and etch the concrete for a new sealer application).

I second windex and simple green if you catch the blood stain fast enough.

Rent a concrete saw and cut out the unwanted concrete, replace with new and be more careful in the future. :rolleye2:

Best way: do it while it's still steaming... :)
I like the dog suggestion too. Good luck. Nothing like spring cleaning in the middle of winter.
You could always build her a brand new shop. 16' walls 50x80 with a hoist, heater and meat cooler... dare to dream

Covering it with a busted down cardboard box might work. Maybe she won't notice. Out of site, out of mind!

The key here is the soak time. Whether it is a light dish soap mix, Windex, water, snow etc.....I have used them all.

Just think back to a nose bleed you had and got blood on your shirt: you put the shirt in cold water in the sink and eventually the blood soaked out. Sometimes it is very fast and other times it has to sit for a while.

I am assuming your issue is a few blood stains and not of dressing a whole animal on the floor, and it is fairly recent?

As this clean-up is a pain in the butt, I generally line my truck box with a tarp/plastic and when the animal comes out at home, so does the tarp and I work over it. When I am finished the tarp, trimmings etc all goes into the trash.
The result lessens the clean-up.

Anyway, that's what I do.

Some good remedies here, good luck......

Park your truck over it with an oil leak and voila :scared0018:

All the above recommendations work to a greater or lesser degree. TSP and industrial concrete cleaners seems to work the best. I have a DIY recipe that has Dawn and Household Ammonia in it. Worked just as good as TSP.

As an aside, I found household ammonia works the best for taking blood stains out of hunting clothes.

Why would you take blood stains out of hunting clothes? Makes you look amateur[emoji848]

I do carpet cleaning, one of my best products for blood is peroxide based. Probably try to remover as much dried blood first, peroxide for a stain.
