I managed to dodge the traffic early by jetting out of Cowtown early Thursday evening. Drove to the ranch to save my injured trailer, which some new bearings and some fiberglass took care of the job at hand perfectly. From there, to Secret Spot # 88 near Mabel Lake which is where we spent the weekend. Luckily, four of our BC operatives headed out early to secure the spot (which only has one camp spot) and we arrived to a ready made camp, on a lake all to ourselves. Jumped in the boat and threw ourselves at the Greatest May Long Fishing Trip to date!

You would be suprised how easy it is to convince a group of friends that catching frogs at night is blindingly easy! Everyone had a good laugh looking back thinking that we were going to net a fist full of frogs!

Small world Backwoodsfisher, small world. Helluva lake that secret spot # 88, lets work to keep it that way! ;)

Hey Michelle, I am very familiar with that area as it is definately one of the more beautiful places in the interior. End of june is a bad time for skeeters, bring plenty of the hefty deet bug repellent. A bug net for your head is a great idea as well. I have seen bugs so thick there, it literally sounds like a light rain on the windshield as you drive through the heavily laden areas.
Have fun out there though, plenty of species to fish!
