Looking for a true 5 gallon pail. Not a normal 20 L = 4.45 gallons one but a taller one. I find that the regular ones are just too short for storage and sitting on. Dam metric stuff !

I have the same problem...found the ready to make wine kit pails are taller (think they are 23L) and accept regular lids. Mine measures 18 1\2" to the top and 20" with the foam padded lid on it.

Thanks for the tip. Gonna head to the local brew store and see what they have.

Have a look at the yeti pail at cabelas. I believe it was 45 bucks and you could get accessories for it as well maybe bolt some rails on it and make it tacticool.
Coop in Stony Plain might have the taller pails you seek. Next time I am in there I'll check.

Try doubling or tripling up regular 5’ers and cut the bottoms out

Those look really cool, lot of neat features and accessories. Well made too. Same height (15 7\8") as a regular bucket tho.

Had the same problem as you so order some 6 gallon plastic pails from a plastics company located in Edmonton. There were at least two companies one asked that you order a full pallet the other allowed me to get them by each. They were not very much either.

One of the companies was Pro Western Plastics out of St. Albert and I can't remember the other companies name. The 6 gallon pails are nicer for sitting on etc. and still fit under the tonneau cover.

Go to a local restaurant and get a pickle pail ! The green ones I have are a true 5 gallon.

Bought some of these from Canadian Tire. Know they are taller than the Berkley ice fishing buckets you can buy.

If you know anyone in the water/sewer construction industry you might get a pail the sodium hydrochloride- a chemical used to disinfect new water mains- comes in. My pail is 22" high and 12" across at the bottom and heavy. A Rona pail fits inside easily. Comes with a sturdy lid that can be cut to open for rods and still be used for a seat. I had to make a webbing handle for ease of carrying.

Swimming pools might have those same pails as they need the same type of product.

Well looks like I lied. Berkley pail is same height as the CT pail. Will await your judgement if it is a true 5 gallon pail as advertised.
