Well had an excellent trip with my brother and caught lots of giant perch. Had a blast and some annoying rainbow trout in the mix. I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking.

Lots of stretched out arms and no measuring tape ! Beauty fish for sure, congratulations, but they look like they are 5lbs !!

You're right, they were just wee perch with outstretched arms. Didn't you see the comparison picture with a regular size 9.5 inch perch comparing it to the ones we were catching? Most fish pictured are between 14.5 and 15.5 inches. Mostly 1 pound 15 ounces to 2 pounds 2 ounces. Several over 2 pounds.

Here is what a wee one looks like on outstretched arm and a 2 pounder. Hope you can tell the difference.

Don't see why it'd be any different, but I didn't have any issues bringing perch and walleye across the border to Saskatchewan from North Dakota.

Thanks guys glad you like the photos!

Did you haul sleds down or rent them down there? Next year when we go I'm thinking about just renting some down there.
My brother brought his sled down from where he lives in Montana and I drove from BC and met there. Fished three days with him and then he left and I walked out for a couple hours the last day. The other AB guys down at the same time rented sleds, trailer, suv and flew down.

Reminds me of my trips to Devils Lake, ND... but closer! Awesome pics.
If you google maps it pretty much the same distance, but takes a bit longer to drive through the mountains from Edmonton. Google maps says only 2 hours difference and it is a way more interesting drive I'd imagine than driving across Saskatchewan. I think from years past Devils may have had bigger numbers than Cascade but average size at cascade is pretty large. But you don't always catch that many. The guys from In Depth Outdoors who fish Devils and Dakotas primarily said they had never seen a perch as big as they caught at Cascade when they did a show there. I've never been to devils though and hear it was kind of on a down trend last few years for perch. Id love to fish Devils lake too and some of those other Dakota lakes.

I answer the questions they ask at the boarder. But if you read the regs it says 10 perch per person to cross boarder. So I never have brought more than 10 per person. I don't think they really care to be honest.

You are bang on about the drive. The drive to North Dakota is almost exactly the same from Calgary as Cascade. North Dakota is a bit of an easier drive than cascade, especially with any weather. Devils does have way more numbers and also some big fish but Cascade is hands down better for average size and top end size. Devils will produce 15 inch perch but not the amount of them Cascade does. Both are phenominal and I have fished both. That being said, if I had to choose one, its not a contest, Cascade wins.

We were hoping for a 16 inch this year but didn't happen.

While I appreciate your concern for bringing zebra muscles into Alberta, the guy plainly asked about bringing fish back. Nothing else. Nowhere did he say he was taking a boat down there. Last I checked, zebra muscles don't live and attach to fish....
