Went to lake Newell for the first time on Wednesday morning. Parked in Kinbrook Park boat launch area and went North with the sled to the first island. Set up in the general area as the other permanent huts. Saw a bunch of dink perch no whitefish or walleyes. Packed up went to Jackfish bay. Set up the southern tip of the medium sized island marked a few got one descent pike on a tip up and one medium pike jigging. Overall a very slow day.

Ice conditions were great in both locations. A couple trucks driving around very little snow cover just barely enough for the sled. Drive on access at Jackfish was great.

Now with the new snow today it might be a little more difficult for driving.

If anyone has any tips on finding whitefish and those monster pikes I've heard about that would be great.

Two things , you hit the right spots just need to change your times, pike til late afternoon then hit the Kinbrook spot . Both areas can be slow but definitely worth the wait.

Ice is great estimate 2 feet or so. There were a couple trucks driving around. There is drive on access at both Kinbook PP and on the road leading to Jackfish bay both were good when I was there. Not sure how driving will be with all this new snow we got the last couple days.
