Good day today. Fished cvr and fish were biting steady. theres a student f&w officer there this summer and is doing surveys with all anglers about the place. This is twice we have bumped into him in a week. He must have called in an officer as he(student) cant check licences and issue tickets cause he was talking to some folks and walked away and was on the phone. within 10 minutes an officer pulled up and found these guys with barbed hooks and using perch as bait. $250 ticket as we heard it all. Nice officer though and as he was checking our licences my wife pulls up a 11lb burb. good day all in all.

I am looking to give cvr a try in mid june. I have only caught burbot through the ice. What do you use in open water? Smelts just off bottom?

Try smelts or minnows off the bottom. or use a jig tiped with one and let it sit on the bottom for a long time before retrieving.

Gee spinnerfisher your wife showed us up tonight. Here me and my buddy pull in the spillway all decked out in my fancy boat, and couldnt get a fish to save our life. Her your wife is pulling in nice walleye everytime we looked over. Congradulations man to her, oh yah you definattly have a keeper there, a woman that likes to fish & can outfish the boys.:)

Thanks for the info. Just got a new ( to me ) boat in may and looking forward to getting it in the water. I am working in tunisia for a month, so won't be home until mid june.

Ya Southaltahunter she always does good and get to hear it all the way home. Nice boat for sure you have. The water is still cold and its about 2-3weeks behind usual. When it does warm up it can be a blast. Tight Lines:wave:

What were you using to catch that burb during the day? I've never had any luck catching them other than at night.

again, just fishing with minnows of the bottom. Have been going there steady for 10+ years and never caught a burb since last year. caught 5 in one day the other day their.
