Take out the bolt.

Have you tried soaking the connection with penetrating oil?
If not, try soaking, stand auger upright and apply penetrating oil to the auger flyte, and auger transmission output shaft. Kriol is a good penetrant, might be hard to find though, I think sea-foam makes one called deep creep, it works good.

Try to rotate the auger, until you can get it to move slightly, once it starts to move, just keep working it. If you have a vice grip with the chain, for pipe, this will work good to keep the auger powerhead from rotating with the auger flyte.

Be careful with how much heat you apply, once the auger transmission output shaft is the same temp as the outside of the flyte temp, it will be basically size on size, and will be seized.

Ideally you want to make the auger flyte connection, a higher temp than the auger transmission output shaft.

I'm assuming that the bolt has been removed from the auger flyte connection, and did not leave any burrs inside the auger flyte connection area?

Alternatively you can use a couple of flat pry bars on the top edge on the flange of the auger flyte and the bottom of the auger transmission, use some spacer blocks, if the space is to large.

What kind of auger is it?

lube and kick it. then clean both ends up with emery cloth once you get it apart.

Try heating the crap out of it then throw some ice cold water or snow on it a few times that always seems to work when I have stuck things at work.Spray wd 40 on when it’s hot.

Heat should have broken any rusty crud in the threads. I would try again but heat it up more.

If you can get to the lake, run the auger and start a hole with the bolt removed.
This has worked for me in the past when I had a similar issue.

Good Luck,
Phil

"Kriol is a good penetrant,"* As Kuduhntr suggested is awesome to loosen rusted metal. If you can't find it make some with diesel fuel and ATF. Let it soak and drill a hole with out the bolt in, stop before going all the way through and keep going till it breaks loose.

If you drill a hole over at least 40’ of water, Murphy’s law will ensure it comes loose as soon as you’re through the ice.

If your trans gears are plastic, the heat might ruin them ! Penetrating oil, good vise or chain vise grips. You need to some how wedge the auger shaft from turning also.

Its a good idea to service these things once in a while, like removing the bit and putting some anti seize compound on the shaft. Checking every couple of times that the bolt is tight etc....

It may be that your auger was loose at one time and there is now a bur on the shaft at both pieces. Explore drilling out a smidge. Ive never seen one that fit tight like that before
