I am paranoid about bacteria.... How do you guys keep your fish cool when you're out on the water all day? My cooler ice melts too fast....

If your ice is melting too quickly try buying a ice block instead, it should stay cold longer..and maybe look into getting a better cooler. A bag of ice should last all day in a decent cooler.

Sounds like you need a better cooler. I've got a 6 quart Coleman that will keep cubed ice for a day and a half.

Coleman Xtreme coolers are awesome. You lose a little interior space due to thicker insulation but they keep ice for up to 5-7 days. I love mine.

X2. They are awesome. Hauled back 70lbs of shark meat from Alaska in 2 coolers. Duct taped them shut and didn't open them for 4 days. Opened them up when I got to my freezer, fish and ice were still frozen solid.

Oh ya and they work awesome for beer too!!

The baskets I have seen and used work great for Perch and even Trout. Once the fish start getting bigger like Pike, Walleye and even Trout at some lakes they do not work to well.
