Fishing Whitefish

I'm going close to the mountains this weekend to a lake with lots of whitefish. Just wondering what techniques and lures I should use. Should I use a jig or a fly.

IMO Why don't you tie both on? Jig on the bottom and a Fly anywhere from 1-3 ft higher on the line. This way you can target fish that suspended and those that are hugging bottom

if bait is legal Ive caught them on freshwater shrimp before
