as you may have guessed it was my first time out on Lac St Anne. Had a great day with non-stop action. we caught somewhere between 50-75 walleye and about 15 pike. The fish all looked healthy which is great!!!for those who fish the lake regularly is catching a 50cm+ walter a challenge? we caught a few that were close but on average id say 17" was the norm.

I haven't fished it for a couple of years now, but a 20" was not that common then either, sounds like they haven't grown much in length since them.

I had class B tags 43 to 50 cm this past yr. Caught a ton of eyes icefishing and not one was under 43cm and a number were over 50 but 90% were in that slot range on the higher end

Sounds very similar to south buck lake. Lots between 43-49 cm.

If you look at F & W walleye management matrix you will see that they purposefully select for lots of slow growing stunted walleye. Consequently that's what you see in most of our lakes.

Fished a couple of my usual haunts at Ste Anne this past weekend for a few hours, fishing was really good, and everything I caught was Class B and C (mostly C, smaller males). However this winter it was a struggle to catch class C... mostly B and lots of A’s.

The bigger ones will start going to the usual walleye holes soon enough. I had the most consistent bite on a drop off at 17’ of water. Water temp was 57degs so still pretty cold.
