Glenmore reservoir

Anyone been on glenmore reservoir? Is the water still down? How’s it been. Think I’m gonna hit it in the morning this week.

water is very low but top water activity fairly constant around sunset and close to shore. morning should be good too.

I plan to bring bring both. I’m excited now. Any idea what species are hitting the surface?

Usually little rainbows, browns and pike are feeding off the surface.

The storm wildeye pike lures are good for catching anything there.

Just went this morning for an hour and caught 2 17” pike and lost 3 others. The one that broke me off was between 20-25” by the looks of it. All in all a good morning. Everything was on #2 Mepps aglia with a silver blade.

Anyone catching any whites or perch? All I hear about or see is trout and pike

I don't think many folks target whites there but they should be present since they are in the upper part of the elbow.

Perch seem to be MIA, I have a hard time believing they have been totally fished out mostly due to the fact that 1/3 to 1/2 of the lake is cabbage bed. One day last year I saw some perchy sounder marks in the cabbage but I did not have any gear that could fish them along that day.

One day last year I saw a dead but pretty large burbot.

I've fished the reservoir pretty religiously the last 25 years and haven't seen a perch since they started doing the really low spring water levels 10-15 years ago. I wonder if the eggs simply get washed away... The spot by heritage park boat dock seems empty and the other one below the golf course does as well. I do hope they're still there, I love a smoked perch.

Lots of fat perch in the reservior. Not going to lie, took me a long time to figure out how to catch them.

I'll trade you my whitefish (although it's been two years since my last one) spot for your perch spot at glenmore lol. I also find whitefish a lot easier to catch in the river. The only lakes I've had good days catching white fish are at ghost dam and spray lakes and a special spot outside jasper. Those are some nice perch congrats.

I have only caught a few perch in Glenmore. Had to use bait. Funny how it is less difficult for me to catch the Browns there, and they can be very tough most days. Never figured out the perch fishing.

Only ever catch like but I haven’t gotten skunked in the last handful of trips so that’s awesome.

Found a very large dead perch near heritage park a week or 2 a go and when I cleaned one of my pike he had 2 little perch in his gut. Just gotta figure out how to get those little perch

It's getting close to that time of year when the perch start to come up shallow and are fishable from shore. Normally starts around mid July but could be different this year from such a late ice off. They like heavy cover that isn't weeds since pike hide in weeds.

Last few nights near the rowing club have been slow for me. Has anyone had much luck with bobber and bait set up? Water has been very calm

Went by the rowing club 3 mornings this week. Can’t keep the pike away but would really like to find something else. I saw a trout head at the river mouth so someone has caught them there. Not asking for specific spots but how are you guys catching them and are they everywhere or do you find specific spots they are hanging out. Also want to find some whites but I think they are a bit harder to find. Anyways any tips on that would help. Have only fished the reservoir twice before this year and I’m amazed at how many fish are there in a city with such a high limit so that was exciting. Fun place to go.

The first place I would try for whites is where the old river channel gets close to shore on the south side, with the water so low it’s probably easier to see (I have not been there yet this year).

Maggot/flies or wire worm on a bottom rig or slip bobber should be a decent start.

I wonder if it would be a first light sort of bite as well

Went out yesterday. Must've caught at least 12 little pike between 10 and 14 inches, just using the good old 5 of diamonds. Tried other stuff (bait on jigs, scented plastics, other kinds of spoons and jerkbait) but none of it worked. Right in the center of the reservoir, between heritage park and the sailing club.

Been trying to get some pike on poppers with no luck. Anyone have much success on popper there or even try?
