Hey guys heading for Sooke first week of August. What are the chances I can catch some fish from shore, ocean shore? Don't really care what it is. Any experience with this or suggestions for the area.

Thanks appreciate it. Kayaks available and kids fishing too.

Rockfish limit is 3 per day for some idiotic reason. The ocean is plastered with these things, billions of them, everywhere.

Waaaaaaaayyyyy better eating than pike and walleye! Make sure you take your frying pan and butter with you, and do skin them before you cook them.

There is a place you can walk thru the bush to. I think it's called race rocks. My buddy used to fish there all the time.

Thanks guys those videos are very encouraging. Looks like a lot of it was a jig under a bobber. Simple and easy.

If you go up the malahat the first marina on your right its a mecca for rockies and ling cod rite off the dock. I have caught countless 20 to 30 pound lings.
P.s bring a gaff hook for the lings as we got a 44 pound ling a gew years back in that spot.
