On the opening day of the season this year I headed out to one of my favourite spots near town to try and hook into some fish.

But I forgot the spot was only open till 8pm! Leaving me with only 50 minutes to fish!

Question for the OP.
I see you seem to favour the baitcaster in most of your videos. What weight line and what kind re: mono vs braid do you use on it,and how light of a lure can you go down to with your setup and still cast a decent distance?
Is it a fairly expensive baitcaster like everyone who uses one says a guy needs?
Thinking of picking one up but have never owned one before.

Cranky, I do believe that is the Rod / Reel combo I bought for Jefs Birthday last year.

The reel is a quantum smoke I believe, not very pricy. Similar capacity to any mid-size spinning reel. It came as a combo with the baitcaster rod. I believe it was called the "KVD" set up and runs you about 80$-120$ depending if there is a sale or not.

Bait casters can cast just as far as spin-cast, sometimes even further if you match your line right and have a bit of practice. Just be sure to put a finger on the reel to keep your spool from over-spinning.

I'm guessing Jeff is using light monofilament line and a 20 pound fluorocarbon leader in this video.

Hey thanks for the answer NSR. He seems to favour that setup and im surprised at seemingly light stuff he casts with it. So it can be done!
