pike from shore?

I recall Ireland fishing dead baits from shore,and getting big pike. is this a common method in Alberta?

Always had fun and good luck fishing with mouse flys along shores just after ice out. I don't use a fly rod, just a normal rod. Crazy action when one hits.

I don't know how common it is but it is quite effective, especially in the early and late parts of the year. Early, fish where the pike have just finished spawning, late, fish where the whitefish are spawning.
