Hello all,

Tried out Travers Res 2 weekends ago and caught two pike down there (catch and released). Was planning to go again this weekend, but the weather is not gonna be favorable. Rain, Rain and more Rain.

Does anyone know of another lake that has good pike fishing? Say between Calgary and Edmonton?

Thanks

Oh and if anyone is interested, caught the pike near the right side edge of the large dam in Travers with 5 of diamonds and a Rattlin' Rap (shorefishing)

i had lots of luck at mcgregor lake fishing off the rocks by the camp ground. if your driving across the top of the rocks theres a red post in the ground ive always caught lots of fish there. ive had lots luck using smelts for pike, im not sure if you can use smelts. look it up in the regs an if you can give them a try, just put them on a sinlge hook with a bell sinker a foot or so up the line you should have luck with that

try out Carolside/berry creek res, all iv ever caught is pike there but i caught a 17 pd'r and about 7 keeper size in one day. plus about 20 or so little guys. only been skunked once out there. fish right off the dam with a baited rig.

I know it is a bit south but go south near Taber to Chin Coulee. We have caught more consistent big ones there than all the above and have fished them all. 15-20 lb is like just another fish in the pond for this lake. I believe and have heard that even some of the bio types think that the next record for the province should come out of there.

Between Edmonton and Calgary... Coal Lake near Leduc isn't a trophy fishing hotspot but for sheer numbers it can be pretty productive.
