Every rod I fish with is spooled with braid summer or winter. When fishing for whites I use a minimum of 6' of 4-8lb flourocarbon leader to whatever lure I tie on.

Hard water my nod goes to mono (maxima ultra green)

Open water is braid to fluoro leader

I use braid with a 6lb flouro leader for nearly everything. When I tackle bigger pike I use a heavy flouro leader.

When you use such stiff lines hook sets need to be gentle or you'll rip lips.

I usually go with 4 or 6 pound fluorocarbon for whites when casting and bobber fishing. If I troll I run braid for bite feel.

don't fish Sylvan but do love fishing whites

I use fluorocarbon from 2# to 20# for Lake Whitefish:test:

I fish several lake's around here and one Jasper Park

I use a Fly Rod with about a 10 to 14 ft leader/tippet

also like using a Blood Worm imitation fly:47b20s0:

like too fish about a foot off bottom using a indicator

or will strip in line keeping it near bottom to rising if being chased

Lake Whitefish when they are hunting for food I find like a bit of movement

if in clear water u can see when they see and attack your fly/hook:shark:

if u have a windy day I will just let my fly bob in waves under indicator

as all ways this is

Food for thought

David:)

I don’t fish sylvan but for Flathead lake whitefish I just use regular 8# mono. Haven’t had any issues in the last 4 years fishing like that for them. Never lost one due to breaking a line. Only lost them due to operator error....doh!!
