A sobering compilation of reasons why we should always wear personal flotation devices on our rivers.

I personally knew three others on the NSR not mentioned.

I want to say there are way more incidents then what are on this page. This past spring while fishing on the Oldman we witnessed a group of 7 rafts that were tied together hit the pier of the bridge in Lethbridge. All 6 people in them ended up in the water. Although some of the rafts pulled off, 2 were still stuck on the pier when we left. They had 1 crappy paddle between 6 people and not a single one of them had a life jacket. But hey, the cooler was full of beer!
So much stupidity was witnessed and hordes of the same kept on coming that day. I am surprised that far more people haven't died floating the rivers.

Lost a good friend on Devils Lake in '08.

I used to never wear my PFD but I do now.
