As has been happening since 2006, I was able to make it out to my second home at a fly in Lodge in Ontario for a little workation of guiding and a little fishing on my own. The lake was about 2' below normal for this time of year as they didn't get much for rain in the spring. This made some of the other lakes we can get into very difficult to access. The lodge wasn't busy enough this year for me to be on the lake all 15 days I was there either, so I got 6 days off in between parties to try a lot of new water that even in the 12 years I have been going there have still never fished. I absolutely hammered smallies. Its to bad we don't have smallmouth here cause man are they fun to fish for and catch. Yeah I get payed to go on vacation to a place that people spend thousands of dollars to be at for 3 days!!

Like I said the water is super low, its normally just below all the bushes along the beach. It also must be nice to be rich Americans. These guys flew there own float planes up and try and go to a different lodge every week all summer long. Life's tough!

There were tons of moose around this spring, we saw 5 on our 30 minute morning commute one morning

Like I said it was all about smallie fishing on my days off. I dedicated an entire day to just bas fishing on a lake I don't normally fish them to try and find some new spots and I was rewarded with over 40 fish including lots of small ones. Normally most of the bass are over 15" so it was actually a good thing to get into some smaller fish, its means the population is healthy

The weather for the most part was really nice, unfortunately only a couple thunderstorms came through so not much for the desperately needed rain. Calm days make me happy.

Over the winter the managers asked me to make a bar for the lodge in exchange for a free trip for myself and some family and of course I took that offer. This is the bar that now adorns the lodge. Photo's of my second trip trip up there will be up shortly.

But first, 2 Weeks after I left they had a couple nights of some pretty epic thunderstorms which set of a **** storm of fires through out the park which are still burning right now. The ministry came in with fire crews and bombers. The entire camp was evacuated for 2 weeks before it would be safe enough for anyone to return. These are a few photos from buddies of mine who were still there before they were evacuated. Even though you cant see fire, it was just out of the photo's across the lake.

Wow, nice photography! I know pictures really don't give you the same feel, but I'm feeling pretty good after seeing them :)

That is a nice variation on species for sure. Throwing in small mouth bass must have been a real treat. Especially top water.

Nice bar too! If I had a man cave, I'd hire you in a second
