Ouch!! My dad has some good fishhook stories amongst others from his time working in an Emergency room! Those big spoons can end up in funny places....

The picture of the eye made me physically shudder. Barbless or not, that isn't going to end well!

Oh god, I'm careful but I couldn't live with myself if it happened to someone else because of me.

Great Thread....

I have gotten a lot of mileage from this thread.....Aside from life jackets and going forward, eye protection will be worn in my boat too....

I hooked my arm pike fishing one time (huge Len Thompson treble, 3/4" deep) and my surgical skills were put to test to avoid at trip to the local walk-in clinic...

No pun intended; but a real eye-opener.....this can happen so fast...

Stay safe..

Walk around a mall and look at the faces of some....I draw a line at the eye ball piercing.:)

Hate to admit it....but my primary reason for bardless hooks is exactly that...comes out MY skin a lot easier.....FML.....

Fishing alone. Single hook fell out of the trout and with it flopping around in the net the hook somehow ended buried in my finger. Cut off the top part and finish the piercing while it was still numb. Don't wait. The hook missed anything important.:shark:

That really sucks, last hard water season was the first time I have been hooked, I was reaching down to grab the lake trout and the trailer hook come out of the fish and sunk deep into the inside of my palm right where you have the big chunk of meat connected to your thumb, I tried for 20 minutes to pull it out with no luck, my son was with me and was turning different colours while I was pulling very hard to get the hook out, it was a cold ride across the lake to the truck with no glove on my hand, I will say when I got to the hospital they took me in right away and cut the hook out, I have fished for 40 years that was the first and only time that will happen to me, on a good note within 1 hour I was back at the hut fishing, the doctor told me it happens lots in the summer months
