Hello, I bought a 1875 King Fisher jet boat this spring and am considering installing a bow mount trolling motor. I do not plan on using the trolling motor on the river. I spend quite a bit of time on Slave and make a trip to Saskatchewan every year. Looking at the cabelas web page I have noticed the options are endless and the price range vary considerably. What are your thoughts.

Jet boat is fairly heavy, as a minimum I would get a 60" shaft, 24 volt 80lb thrust I-pilot. If you think you need the max power get a 36 volt 101 lb. 60" shaft I-pilot. If you want to run a sonar off the bowmount you will need one with universal sonar and an adapter cable for your sonar.

How do you like the Ulterra? Thinking of one but haven't had a chance to talk to many with one.

Thanks
Ken

for trolling it has cruise control set it and it will keep the same speed and direction , the anchor feature is amazing , the deeper the water the more it saves your arms , and no swinging as with an anchor . at cold lake this summer you mark fish on the finder hit the anchor lock button and you are sitting on top of the fish , it was the best fishing we ever had , all due to the anchor feature . you can dial in your speed for trolling in .1km per hour speed. the deploy and stow are great no more lifting the trolling motor up and down when moving from one part of the lake to another. the remote control gives you more time with your rod in hand, the only regret is I should of bought one years ago. highly recommended. a bit pricey but worth every penny.

I have a large heavy 20 foot thunderjet. It's not a jet boat but is heavy. I run a 70# minnkota with 60 inch shaft. It does well but the later models with spot lock & so on are so much more. Next on my list. Buy once, cry once & you will be happy for many years.
