Hows your guys numbers and quality looking this year?
My numbers are down drastically, with lice in about 30% so far. This is forest trapping. Farmland numbers seem normal.

Only taken 7 so far , but set snares yesterday so should soon see some numbers . 1 out of first 7 had bad mange ,rest look good . Lots around but pretty skittish from the deer hunting crowd, be glad when they go home and I can get to work . I dont like to set some areas due to the doe boys picking coyotes up , so as soon as them and the bird hunters are done I'll be O.K.

Not sure on numbers yet down south here, will be easier to tell when they can calm down after rifle season. Quality seems good though, only one with mange and most seem to be nice coyotes this year.

talking to a friend in southern sask last night.....they set snares on the fourth of nov, and as of yesterday, had caught 197 dogs. he said a few of them were a little early, but most of them were looking good. wow.

Yup, them guys do know how to snare coyotes. I hope they bring their fur my way!

Dr. Margo Pybus is studying data about dog lice in wolves and coyotes. Trappers could be a big part of the data collection if we record number of infected animals, date and area caught :test:. Alberta Trapper magazine 2018 issue one, page 48 has more info.

I'm sure if you go with them, they'll learn ya. It's easy.

oh hell, i don't need any lessons.......i was trying to be nice when suggesting that we both go. then maybe you could catch a dog if you asked them to show you how.

I am in the grande prairie area. Caught 6 so far no mange or anything bad. 3rd year trapping. All 10 baits are set with snares as of today, i am hoping to get triple digits by mid to end of January. Good luck to everyone out there!
