Thinking about taking my nieces fishing over Christmas break and wonder where people would suggest. I have come up with pigeon, wizard or a drive to sylvan. Any other thoughts.

Wizard would be my choice unless your looking to keep fish. You will mainly catch smaller pike but the odd one of keeper size can be found. Plus there are burbot and small perch.

Dried Meat lake is just south of Camrose. I’ve only ever seen pike there but generally have pretty good luck.

Leduc Reservoir is stocked with a few thousand trout every year. 3 years ago 270 big brood stock were released there so there would be the odd big trout still to be had too. There are some deep spots and I don't remember it ever winter killing. Cormorants get some of the trout.

The north end along hwy 39 is deep enough and the wide part west of hwy 2 is deep too. The trout seems to cruise closer to the shoreline to feed.

Your best bet for a consitant catch would be coal lake or wizard. Mainly smaller pike in both. But action is plentiful.

Wizard lake ice could be iffy. Deep right off shore by the park so be careful.
